Roman High Carat Gold Ring

Stunning Roman high-carat (over 22ct) gold ring. Perfect in all its wonkiness and crudeness. It has fantastic weight for what looks like a delicate ring and has a hypnotic, almost modern design. Rich buttery gold also adds another dimension to this absolute stunner and it is a ring I am so tempted to keep!

The ring is a stirrup type of ring dated to 3AD and made in Roman Empire. It has characteristic slanted flat shoulders that are topped with a circular flat blank space made to be engraved. Please refer to the photo, uncovered during my research, of an almost identical ring with an engraving of a fish - the ring belonged to a Roman Christian 3AD.
